What coaching is, and what it isn't

Her Vanguard offers coaching and personal development. You get structured practice, an honest assessment, and someone who expects your follow-up.

It isn't therapy. It isn't medical or psychiatric care. It isn't a diagnosis, and it doesn't substitute for any of those.

What that means in practice

The Life Portrait describes patterns in your own answers. It doesn't identify a condition, and it never will. No score here means anything clinical, and no band is a diagnosis with a friendlier name.

Our products teach skills to women who are functioning and want more from their lives. They work on what you do, not on what's wrong with you. Nothing here treats a mental health condition, an eating disorder, or the effects of abuse.

We make no promises about your outcome. We do promise the work is specific, the assessment is honest, and you always leave knowing your next step.

When something else is the right call

Some things are bigger than coaching. If you're not functioning, if most days are hard, if you're frightened of someone, if food has become a war, if you've thought about ending your life — a licensed professional is the right person, and they're the right person today.

Naming that takes more nerve than pushing through it. Our support resources page lists who to contact, including lines that answer at 3am.

Coaching and therapy sit well together

Plenty of women do both. A therapist works on what happened and what it left behind. A coach works on what you're building next. Neither replaces the other, so tell your therapist you're doing this. It's useful information for them, not a confession.

If you're in treatment for anything, keep your clinician in the loop and follow their guidance over ours. They know your history. We know your answers to 87 questions.
